Transient Orca Whales August in the San Juan Islands

Hi Nancy and Rebecca,

It’s been busy here but I have managed to prepare three images transients from our trip with you last week. I’ll send a few more of the hunt of the dolphin when I get a few moments.

These shots, as most, were from well over a hundred yards away under the dimmer light – but what a set of memories!

Please enter these in any contest that you may have.

Enjoy,

Michael J. O’Connell

These photos are of TRANSIENT whales, which we very seldom seem It is the resident orca whales that we ususally see. Thanks Michael for the photos. They have been entered in the photo contest.

What a wonderful shot of Mt Baker!
Looks like at least 8 orca whales in the 2nd shot.

We took a whale watching tour on the Sea Hawk back on June 26th and got several great pictures. This is my favorite to enter into your photo contest, but I may send more.

Your Whale Watching Staff/Naturalists

My husband and I would like to thank you for making our recent trip to Friday Harbor so special. First, we went on the "adults only" whale watching trip with Nancy as the boat captain and Kendall as our guide. Both Nancy and Kendall are remarkable in their knowledge and skill. They made our trip truly one to remember.

A few days later we went on the 3 hour kayak tour with Deborah and, again, it was exceptional! Deborah was so friendly, informative and she paddles with such ease! We had a fabulous trip seeing seals with their pups and two bald eagles sitting on the shore eating salmon!

These three, Nancy, Kendall and Deborah are extraordinary! They are great people and you can tell they love what they do. We hope that you can pass along to them how much they enhanced our experiences on San Juan Island.
