Winter Weather on San Juan Island Washington

Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!
Captain Peter clocked the wind at almost 70 MPH.
Yesterday, all night and all of today until about 2:00 pm we had wind, rain (sideways of course) rattling our everything.
Bill came down to check the boats last night around 10 pm. 6:30 am our electricity went out. By 8:00 we were back at the docks checking the boat lines. Wind and waves right here in the Port of Friday Harbor. Ferry delays.
Right now, you would never know what we had been through. Clear blue skies with a soft breeze.
And people ask "Why dont you take guests out in the winter?" Right.

This calf not brings the total or our three resident poad up to 88. That number does not include Lolita, who is part of the L pod, on display at the Miami Seaquarium.

Orca babies are always a big deal here in the Pacific Northwest. Statistics seem to indicate that there is about a 50% chance of servival their first year. We will all be keeping a close eye on this baby orca.
