October 20 tour with orca SUPER POD!
36 Lucky guests were witness to an extremely unusual, extra ordinary site. Not only did we see orca in October, but top that one with the unlikely 'super pod' or all 3 resident pods of orcas!!
They came up the west side of San Juan Island. We were near Open Bay when whales came towards Kellett Bluff. They were spread out over an area about 3 miles front to back and 8 miles side to side. wereoing no . They were mostly foraging. Salmon runs are strong in the area right now.
We were shut down and the wind and the waves moved the boat into Haro Strait. There was a whale acting amourous towards a female orca. We left them at Turn Point, Stuart Island.
